My husband and I are thinking about adopting a puppy. Which vaccinations are need initially and when should they be administered? Also what is the aproximate cost of the vaccinations?
Thanks,
Allison
Hello Allison
Adopting a puppy is a wonderful idea! You’re puppy will need a series of vaccines, depending upon its age. We begin giving vaccinations at the age 6 weeks. Following the initial vaccine, DHPPC combination, you puppy will need two boosters 3-4 weeks apart from each other.
Following a schedule of vaccinating your puppy at 6 weeks, 10 weeks, and 14 weeks, your puppy should be fully protected two weeks after the last set of vaccinations. We recommend giving the Rabies vaccine at 6 months of age.
An initial exam will need to be done before giving vaccinations. Our physical exam fee is $40.00 and the initial DHPPC vaccine is $33.00.
Please call if you have any further questions.
Good Luck
