Ask Dr. Dobson: Acupuncture

Hello,

I have a 5 year old Alaskan Malamute that is experiencing weakness in his rear and balance issues.  I am interested in Acupuncture for him.  What is the pricing for this?

Thanks

Keisha

Hi Keisha.

The initial Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) examination includes a standard physical exam and consultation, plus a TCM evaluation which includes lots of general questions regarding everything from his barking to food to sleeping habits as well as a specific physical exam.
The cost for this is $75.00 and you should plan at least an hour.  Based on this initial exam, Dr. Dobson will come up with a proposed treatment plan with you.  Any previous history you have on your dog will help, so bring any medical records with you, or we can contact a previous vet for you to request them.

Depending on what treatment(s) you decide on together, we can give you a written estimate for the whole course of treatment.  Most acupuncture/electrostimulation treatments require 1-3 treatments per week for a 2-3 week period, but all that can be determined based on your dog’s needs.

If you click on the TCM link on our site you can watch some treatment videos and find more detailed information.

Dr. Dobson is here 9-6 every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and every other Saturday from 9-2.  Call us at 801-224-2233 to schedule the initial consultation.  We look forward to meeting you and your dog!
